(Note: The scheduled time was originally posted as Monday, December 12th. The event has now been moved to Tuesday, December 13th.)
Today I’m happy to announce the first of what I hope will be many events in the UnSectored community. On December 13th, all of us invite you to participate in UnSectored Talks, a time for those interested in social change between and beyond sectors to get together to discuss what “unsectored” means to us. Come share your thoughts about the site so far, talk about what you see as the problems (or benefits) of a sectored society, and generally, have some fun!
These UnSectored Talks will be held every other month (or monthly or quarterly or never again, depending on the interest) and hosted at homes of members of the UnSectored community in the National Capital Region. These will not be “networking” events in the classic DC, get-yourself-a-job sense, but an event that tries to build community through dialogue and discussion and argument. And good food and good music too. We have no goal at this time other than building community, with the hope that a plan of action to break down barriers will arise from the connections made.
So, come on over on the 13th, bring your friends, and your thoughts, and any sort of food or beverage you’d like to contribute (yes, we are unfunded, so these events are potluck style, sorry!)
