Friday’s Thoughts: Be With the Change You Seek

(If you are viewing this in an email, click above to watch the video.)

iOnPoverty has a great collection of resources for people looking to build a career in social change or social justice. It has a plethora of great short video clips of interviews with host Jonathan Lewis and major players across different sectors.

I was heartened to see this interview with Yuwei Shi, Dean of the MIIS Graduate School of International Policy and Management, in which he discusses how he is not a social entrepreneur, nor does everyone need to strive to be one. He says that enablers of social innovation (similar to Laura Tomasko’s concept of infrapreneurship) are equally important as those that go out and start their own enterprises.

Instead of “being the change we wish to see in the world,” Shi suggests we “be with the change you seek.”

Great advice that should be taken more often, I think.
